Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad is firing on all cylinders this season, putting up a staggering display of attacking prowess.

In just 12 La Liga matches, they have netted an impressive 40 goals, a pace that has sparked discussions about record-breaking potential.

With these numbers, Barcelona could be on track to surpass some of the most significant goal records in La Liga history, including the one set by Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in the 2011/12 season.

Under Flick, Barcelona’s scoring efforts have evolved from previous years. While Robert Lewandowski continues to be a major scoring threat, other players like Raphinha, Dani Olmo, and Lamine Yamal are also consistently contributing to the goal tally.

Approaching Real Madrid’s record

This collective approach has added an edge to Barcelona’s offensive strategy, making them an even more formidable force in the league.

Their current trajectory suggests that they could end the season with a projected 127 goals, which would eclipse Real Madrid’s record of 121 goals in a single La Liga campaign.

Mourinho’s Real Madrid side, which set the record in 2011/12, was also known for its prolific scoring.

Back then, the Madrid trident—Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, and Karim Benzema—formed a formidable unit, with Ronaldo alone contributing 46 goals to the team’s total.

Together, they scored 89 of the 121 goals, a benchmark that has yet to be surpassed. Barcelona, however, now appears well-positioned to challenge and potentially break this long-standing record if they maintain their high-scoring momentum.

Additionally, Barcelona have their own club record to aim for. During the 2016/17 season under Luis Enrique, Barcelona scored 116 goals in La Liga, led by the legendary trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez.

Flick’s current squad, however, is on pace to exceed this mark by a comfortable margin. If they continue performing as they have, they could well add another record to Barcelona’s storied history by the end of this season.
