We are in the dying embers of the 2024/25 club football season, and it is quite remarkable that FC Barcelona are in the reckoning for all three trophies left – the La Liga, Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.
Having already lifted the Spanish Super Cup in January, Hansi Flick’s men have a chance to win their second trophy later this week, where they will take on Real Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey. It would be a huge boost of confidence if Barcelona win it.
The La Liga title race seems to be heading down to the wire, and the Champions League sees Barcelona take on a tricky Inter Milan side in the semi-finals. Despite a lot left to play for this season, the club is already being linked with players for the upcoming transfer window.
Now, as per Fichajes, Barcelona are preparing an offer of around €40m to sign talented Premier League attacker Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United. This isn’t the first time he has been linked with a move to the Spanish club.
Rashford had a very poor first half of the season with Manchester Utd, struggling to score goals for Erik ten Hag’s side and then being sidelined by Ruben Amorim, almost exclusively. However, a move to Aston Villa and Unai Emery’s system seems to have brought him back to life.

The report mentions that Rashford still harbours the dream of wearing the Red and Blue of Barcelona, and the Catalan club sees him as a player capable of terrorising opposition defences. That said, the Englishman is unlikely to be considered a starter here.
At 27 years old, Rashford is at an age typically considered the start of a footballer’s prime years. While 3 goals and 6 assists in 16 appearances for Villa may not stand out as exceptional, there’s no doubt about the talent the Englishman possesses.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona make a concrete attempt to sign the Manchester United forward come the summer. It could directly be tied into Ansu Fati’s future and the style of attacker that Hansi Flick wants, and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
