Barcelona midfield target would love to play for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City | OneFootball

Joshua Kimmich is one of the names on the agenda of FC Barcelona in their search for a new pivot midfielder this summer.

The 29-year-old German international’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2025 and a renewal is now understood to be out of the question, with the midfielder expected to be on the move in the coming weeks.

Barcelona, for their part, have held a long-standing interest in Kimmich and their interest in the midfielder has only intensified with Hansi Flick taking over as manager. After all, the German tactician has previously worked with the midfielder.

Kimmich wants Manchester City move

However, Barcelona are not the only club interested in signing Kimmich this summer as Premier League champions Manchester City are also looking at him.

And now, according to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the 29-year-old midfielder ‘would love to’ play for Pep Guardiola’s side and has informed his agent the same.

Kimmich flourished under Guardiola’s tutelage at Bayern Munich and as such is understood to be keen on reuniting with his former mentor.

The report further adds that the same sentiment is shared by Guardiola as well as the Manchester City manager would very much welcome the idea of working with the German international again.

More clubs interested

Apart from Manchester City and Barcelona, two more top teams in the form of Liverpool and Arsenal are also said to be interested in acquiring Kimmich’s services this summer.

The midfield ace is currently representing Germany at the UEFA Euro 2024 and his future will be resolved once the tournament is out of the way.

Bayern, for their part, would be keen on offloading Kimmich this summer itself to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing in 2025 when his contract expires.
