The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights on a new profile, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the attacking third.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Lille standout Jonathan David as the player in question.
Frontman David, for his part, is currently on the radar of a whole host of Europe’s leading clubs. This comes ahead of the expiration of the Canadian international’s contract at The Stade Pierre-Mauroy in the summer of 2025.
The understanding is that, despite the best efforts of the Lille brass, David has no intention of renewing his terms with the club.
As much means that, as things stand, the striker – who racked up 52 goals over the course of the last two seasons – is primed to enter the free agent market.
And the aforementioned Barcelona are one club keeping a close eye on the situation, with a view to launching an assault on his signature.
As per the aforementioned Sport, amid a search for a long-term replacement for the aging Robert Lewandowski:
‘Barça have information about the operation and are looking closely at David. His name will be much talked about from January onwards.’
