FC Barcelona have a well-stocked midfield unit led by Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, alongside the likes of Gavi, Marc Casado, Dani Olmo, and Fermin Lopez.
When needed, Hansi Flick can also count on Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen to fill in as pivots while youngsters like Guille Fernandez are knocking on the doors as well.
Despite that, the Blaugrana continue to keep an eye on talents who can possibly strengthen the position.
One such player, who is on Barcelona’s radar happens to be AZ Alkmaar youngster Kees Smit. Indeed, according to AS, the Blaugrana are keeping tabs on the 19-year-old Dutch midfielder who is a target for Real Madrid.
The youngster is a versatile operator capable of playing in multiple roles in midfield while he has also been used on the wings occasionally.

Smit has 31 senior appearances for AZ in which he has two goals and assists each while he has featured 19 times for the Netherlands Under-19 national team.
The 19-year-old prodigy has a contract until 2028 with the Dutch outfit having signed a contract with them in 2024.
However, he has been attracting interest from a number of clubs this summer, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.
As per the report, the Blaugrana have Smit on their radars for the moment whereas Los Blancos see him as a serious option to reinforce their midfield unit.
The signing of a new midfielder is not a priority for Hansi Flick & co. at the moment, who are working on the Nico Williams transfer after which the focus will likely be on bringing in a full-back and another attacker.
