Robert Lewandowski’s solitary goal against Getafe helped Barcelona maintain their flawless start to the new La Liga season, as the team notched up their seventh consecutive victory.
The 36-year-old striker continues to impress, taking his season tally to seven goals in just as many league matches.
According to SPORT, this performance has also secured him a significant personal milestone – he is now the top-scoring Polish player in the history of the Spanish league.
Lewandowski’s goal against Getafe took his total to 49 La Liga goals, surpassing the previous record held by Jan Urban. Urban, who played for Osasuna, Valladolid, and Toledo, had a total of 48 goals in La Liga.
With much of the season still to go, Lewandowski is likely to extend his lead in this regard, further cementing his status as a goal-scoring legend.

The next highest-scoring Polish players in La Liga are Jakub Kosecki, with 22 goals, and Wojciech Kowalczyk, who managed 14 goals during his time at Betis and Las Palmas.
Lewandowski now looks forward to his next opportunity to hit the 50-goal mark, which may come in Barcelona’s upcoming fixture against Osasuna.
El Sadar stadium brings back mixed memories for the Polish striker, as during his first La Liga season, he was sent off, receiving a three-match suspension for touching his nose as he left the pitch.
However, he made amends last season, scoring the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory with just five minutes left on the clock.
Feeling confident this season, Lewandowski attributes his impressive form to the increased number of crosses being delivered into the box. With more chances to position himself in the penalty area, where he thrives, his goal tally has soared.
Barcelona’s match against Osasuna promises to be another challenging encounter, but Lewandowski remains focused on helping his team secure an eighth consecutive league win.
