Even though their recent form in La Liga has been a bit dodgy, FC Barcelona are going extremely strong in the UEFA Champions League this season.

Barring the opening-day defeat to AS Monaco, the Blaugrana have won each of their five next matches, with the latest victory coming last night against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park.

The result sees Barça occupy the second spot in the Champions League table, only behind Liverpool, who have won each of their six games so far.

Champions League proving very lucrative for Barcelona

As reported by Esport3, Barcelona are reaping in the rewards for their form and progress in the UEFA Champions League.

Barça, along with every other club in the league phase, was given €18.62 million just for qualifying and participating.

On top of that, UEFA awards each team with €2.1 million for every win they register and €700,000 for each draw.

WIth the Blaugrana pocketing the initial €18.62 million for participation and picking up five wins worth €2.1 million each, they have already earned €29.62 million from the UCL this season.

Plenty of scope for more

With two more games left in the league phase, Barcelona can collect more prize money by winning those.

Furthermore, a hefty payout of around €9.9 million would await the Catalan giants if they finish as the table-toppers ahead of Liverpool, who are currently leading the charts. If Barça end up second, they will receive a figure slightly lower than that.

Meanwhile, with Barcelona’s progression to the Round of 16 almost confirmed at this stage, there is financial reward for that as well.

Indeed, each phase of the tournament carries its own associated financial reward: €11 million for reaching the Round of 16, €12.5 million for the quarter-finals, €15 million for the semi-finals, and €18.5 million for the two finalists.

Barcelona’s consistent performance in this season’s competition not only boosts their chances of success on the pitch but also provides a much-needed financial cushion for the club’s ongoing economic recovery.
