However, the Catalan club remain hopeful that the young forward will adapt and that the Betis staff will exercise patience with the Brazilian talent.

Worrying signs for Roque

Recent performances by Roque have raised concerns within the Real Betis camp, and coach Manuel Pellegrini may consider benching him for the crucial derby against Sevilla, which would be a significant setback for the attacker.

Roque chose to join Real Betis despite having multiple offers on the table, drawn in by the club’s assurances of a prominent role.

Initially, the 19-year-old saw considerable playing time, even after a lack of minutes at Barcelona. He impressed with a goal against Leganes, but since then, he has struggled to find the net, and his recent outings have been underwhelming.

In Sevilla, there is growing debate regarding the decision to rely on Roque, with Pellegrini potentially opting to start Cedric Bakambu, who has recovered from his injury issues.

Roque needs consistent minutes to gain rhythm and acclimatise himself to La Liga, and Barcelona are eager to see his involvement increase.

This summer, Barcelona preferred to sell Roque outright to recoup their investment, as they understood that loan agreements came with inherent risks.

If the Brazilian international fails to establish himself at Betis, his market value could diminish significantly, leading to serious concerns over what some at Barcelona are starting to view as a failed operation.

Roque’s loan is set for one season, with an option to extend for another. Barcelona still hope that he will rediscover his best form and continue to develop at Betis, ultimately leading to a profitable sale.

However, if Los Verdiblancos lose faith in him, the situation could quickly become problematic. The two clubs maintain regular communication, and while the commitment remains strong for now, Roque’s upcoming performances could face significant scrutiny.
