As reported by Barça Universal, Barcelona currently cannot afford to sign any new players, let alone pay €58 million for Nico Williams.

While signing a left-winger is a priority, the high cost of players like Nico is beyond Barcelona’s budget. Luis Diaz, another potential target, also comes with a hefty price tag, meaning Barcelona must look for cheaper alternatives.

In that regard, SPORT has reported that if Barcelona cannot sign Nico Williams or Luis Diaz, they will consider Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as a more affordable option.

Who is Jamie Bynoe-Gittens?

Bynoe-Gittens is a 19-year-old footballer who plays for England’s under-21 team. Although he has not yet secured a regular starting spot in the Dortmund team, he has made significant contributions.

He has played in 44 games for the current European runners-up, scoring five goals and providing nine assists.

Bynoe-Gittens is a talented winger known for his dribbling skills, good final passes, and strong shooting ability. He usually plays on the opposite wing but is versatile enough to play on both wings.

Some suggest that Bynoe-Gittens is an alternative to Barcelona’s ‘plan A’, which is to sign Nico, who has been performing well alongside Barcelona’s new star, Lamine Yamal, at the Euros.

There is another option

Interestingly, Bynoe-Gittens is not the only alternative Barcelona are considering. Another potential candidate is Hull City’s Jaden Philogene.

Reports indicate that Barcelona have already sent a formal offer to Hull City. This offer proposes a one-year loan with a mandatory purchase option in 2025, valued between €20-23 million, depending on certain conditions like playing time.

Interestingly, Barcelona are not the only club interested in Philogene. Other teams, including Premier League sides Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, are also eyeing him, creating competition for his signature.

Barcelona’s financial constraints are pushing them to explore these alternatives. The club’s inability to afford high-priced players like Nico and Luis Diaz has led them to consider more affordable options like Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Jaden Philogene.

Both players have the potential to strengthen Barcelona’s squad, but they come with different costs and competition.
