Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona are of the opinion that one member of the club’s backline is world football’s very best in his role.

That’s according to French football insider Fabrice Hawkins, who points towards Jules Koundé as the player in question.

Koundé has for his part seen his name emerge as a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were credited with an interest in the former Sevilla man.

If ensuing word doing the rounds on Tuesday is anything to go by, however, then Barcelona appear to have absolutely no intention of sanctioning Koundé’s sale.

As per a report from journalist Fabrice Hawkins, whilst talks over a contract renewal for the 26-year-old continue, the Camp Nou brass have long established the collective opinion that:

‘Koundé is the best in the world in his position.’
