Barcelona sporting director Deco this evening provided an explanation for his trip back to his home country of Portugal.
The subject of Barca chief Deco’s movements has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain across the day to date.
As much comes after the former midfielder was spotted at an airport in Catalunya, ahead of boarding a flight to Porto.
The immediate assumption across the media was that the trip came with a view to a fresh round of negotiations with the powers that be at Primeira Liga giants Porto.
The Dragons are known to be expressing a keen interest in the signing of Barcelona starlet Mikayil Faye, with some outlets having gone as far as to point towards the transfer as being all but imminent.
Stopped by members of the awaiting press upon his arrival in Portugal this evening, Deco, as a result, was asked if Faye’s future was the reason for his trip.
The Blaugrana director, however, was quick to shut down such suggestions.
Instead, Deco assured that his journey home came for personal reasons, chiefly to see his family:
“If I came to negotiate for Mika Faye? No,” he told CNN Portugal, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “I have a house in Porto, I have a family here, I have children here.”
