Ronald Araujo’s return to action in Barcelona’s recent Copa del Rey clash against Barbastro has sparked plenty of interest.
This was not just any ordinary comeback; it marked his first game back after recovering from an injury that had kept him sidelined for a significant period.
To add to the occasion, Araujo was named both a starter and the captain, a testament to his importance within the team.
However, it was not only his performance on the pitch that drew attention—questions about his contract renewal quickly surfaced.
Araujo’s current contract with Barcelona has a season and a half remaining, and fans are naturally eager to see him commit to a longer stay.

Speculation has grown about his future, especially with no guarantees yet that he will extend his stay at the club.
Despite this uncertainty, Araujo appears to be focused on his return to fitness and helping the team on the field. Conversations between the player and the club regarding his renewal are ongoing, but there is no definitive update yet.
“We are talking with the club about my renewal, but I am focused on playing again and getting minutes,” he said after the match as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“Will I continue 100% at Barça? We are talking to the club,” he added.
The situation surrounding Araujo’s contract is being closely monitored, as Barcelona’s management is also juggling other pressing matters.
Among them is the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, two players the club seems determined to integrate into the squad. Araujo has acknowledged that these processes are part of the broader discussions within the club.
“The club tells me that they will resolve the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, he noted.
