Barcelona continue to keep tabs on the free-agent pool for potential signings in the summer transfer window, having had success with the strategy in the past amidst their financial woes.
Players like Jonathan Tah and Jonathan David have been touted as possible targets to strengthen the Blaugrana squad before next season.
Now, it appears that another soon-to-be-free star has caught the attention of the current La Liga leaders.
Indeed, according to The Guardian (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Barcelona are among a host of clubs monitoring Lille attacking midfielder Angel Gomes ahead of his potential free agency.
A former Manchester United academy prospect, the 24-year-old has been at Lille since 2020 and after a loan stint with Boavista, he has made his name with the Ligue 1 club.

A full international for England with four caps, Gomes is an attacking midfielder by trade but is a versatile operator capable of operating in various other positions.
The 24-year-old has had problems due to injury this season, limiting him to just 20 appearances, in which he has two goals and an assist.
With his contract at Lille expiring at the end of the season, Gomes is attracting serious interest from a number of clubs, including Barcelona and West Ham United, although the England star has turned out a lucrative offer from them to return to London.
Although Barcelona’s attacking midfield positions are already well-covered with Dani Olmo, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Pablo Torre, Gomes’ ability to play on the left wing or in deeper midfield roles could make him an interesting option.
With the Blaugrana having other priorities at the moment, it remains to be seen if they decide to go after Gomes’ signing with greater intent.
