According to an update from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are making a final push to complete the permanent transfer of Clement Lenglet this week.
The outlet suggests that talks have been ongoing for several days, and while the deal has not been sealed yet, all sides are now working with urgency.
Lenglet, who returned recently from international duty carrying a slight hip issue, is seen as surplus to requirements at Barcelona.
The Catalan club is keen to get his high salary off the books, especially as they continue to struggle with financial fair play limits.
His current contract runs until 2026, and his salary, deferred during the pandemic, now stands at around €16 million per year. Understandably, Barça are desperate to offload him.
Atletico Madrid do have an interest in Lenglet, particularly for defensive depth. But they have made it clear that they will not consider another loan or a deal that requires them to shoulder his full wages.

A free transfer or a contract termination is the only feasible way he can return to the Metropolitano.
Negotiations have not been smooth, as Atletico are also in the midst of planning other signings, so Lenglet has slipped from being a priority target.
However, should Barcelona agree to terminate his deal or release him without demanding a transfer fee, Atletico may act quickly.
This week is seen as key for a breakthrough. Barcelona are under pressure to trim their wage bill and improve their financial standing before entering deeper into the summer transfer market.
That urgency might benefit Atletico if they can remain patient and firm.
Lenglet, for his part, has been involved directly in negotiations, aware that a pay cut might be necessary if he is to secure regular football elsewhere.
Despite the obstacles, the likelihood of an agreement is growing, especially if Barcelona prioritise financial relief over profit.
