Manchester United have underlined that their pull remains as strong as ever by making a number of high-profile signings despite the absence of European football.
Bryan Mbeumo moved to Old Trafford despite interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. Meanwhile, Benjamin Sesko rejected Newcastle United’s more lucrative offer to play for the Red Devils.
Now, another immensely talented player is willing to join Ruben Amorim’s project in Manchester.
According to CentreDevils’ Sully, Carlos Baleba is fully open to joining United with “contact being made with his representatives already.”
As per multiple reports, United have contacted Brighton & Hove Albion to explore the possibility of signing Baleba.
The 21-year-old Cameroonian is considered one of the Premier League’s most well-rounded midfielders, having impressed with his powerful running and technical ability.
Baleba has also attracted interest from Manchester City, but Sully claims he has given the “green light” to United for a transfer. Accordingly, the figures at Old Trafford are “not worried about personal terms” with the sought-after midfielder.
It seems United are trying to get ahead of the competition and sign Baleba this summer. However, Brighton’s desire is to hold onto the player for at least another season.
In their attempt to fend off Baleba’s suitors, the Seagulls will reportedly demand €120 million, a British transfer record, to part ways with him.
United have already spent over €200m on Mbeumo, Cunha, and Sesko. As such, Ineos would need to raise considerable funds to make a serious push for the ex-Lille talent.
The Mancunians are in talks with Chelsea for the transfer of Alejandro Garnacho, whom they value at £50m.
They are also actively looking to offload Antony and Jadon Sancho. Juventus are trying to sign the Englishman, while Benfica have showed interest in the Brazilian winger.
