Ertan Süzgün reports that German fullback Derrick Köhn may be headed straight back to the Bundesliga. The former Bayern Munich academy man just returned to his parent club Galatasaray after a successful loan stint in his home country. The Turkish journalist reports Augsburg fancy the idea of bringing the 26-year-old in following his stellar season on loan with Werder Bremen.
Köhn did well in Bremen during the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign in spite of the Hanseatic club’s competitive situation at the wingback positions. The Hamburg-native scored two goals and registered two assists in 27 league appearances for Ole Werner’s team.
Köhn’s appearances did decline late in the season, however, potentially because Bremen wished to avoid an automatic purchase in the loan deal. Had the clause been triggered, Bremen would have been on the hook for approximately €5m.
While Köhn maintains a €5m estimated market value, Galatasaray may be willing to entertain lower offers as the player enters the final year of his contract. The Turkish outfit paid €3.35m to acquire Köhn from Hannover 96 in August of 2024.
Augsburg have pulled their estimated summer transfer deficit down to €2m following the sale of striker Dion Drena Beljo to Zagreb. A purchase in the €3m range wouldn’t fall outside the budget of the Fuggerstädter – who do enjoy some private financial backing – at all.
