Atlético Madrid handed late boost ahead of Celta Vigo | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid have been afforded a late boost on the personnel front, ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Celta Vigo.

This comes amid confirmation that a headline member of the capital giants’ defensive ranks, despite doubts, will be available for selection on Sunday.

The player in question? José María Giménez.

Stopper Giménez, for his part, was forced to sit out training across much of the week to date.

As much came owing to a fitness issue picked up last weekend.

The Uruguayan international did manage to return to the grass on Thursday, but his status to face the aforementioned Celta Vigo nevertheless remained up in the air.

As confirmed across Atlético’s website and social media platforms on Saturday, though, Giménez has been included in the club’s matchday squad.

So too has defensive partner Mario Hermoso, who was forced into a premature departure from the Rojiblancos’ downing of Mallorca last time out.

Missing out, on the other hand, are Nahuel Molina, and long-term injury absentee Thomas Lemar.
