Atlético Madrid agree deal for Serie A star | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have this week agreed to the terms of an imminent transfer with Serie A outfit Atalanta.

That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Matteo Ruggeri as the player on his way from the latter to the former.

Ruggeri, for his part, is a 22-year-old Italian youth international, capable of operating in a number of roles down the left.

The youngster is fresh off a productive campaign in 2024/25, which saw him rack up 38 appearances across all competitions with the aforementioned Atalanta.

Along the way, Ruggeri chipped in with a trio of assists.

And evidently his efforts across these outings proved enough to pique the attentions of those behind the scenes at the aforementioned Atlético.

This comes amid confirmation that, amid a long-standing search for reinforcements on the left, the Rojiblancos have tied up a deal to bring Ruggeri in for next season.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Matteo Ruggeri to Atlético Madrid, here we go! Agreement in place with Atalanta for €20m package. Medical tests already booked for the left-back.’
