Atlético handed injury boost ahead of Real Madrid showdown | OneFootball

La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have on Sunday been afforded a welcome boost on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that Javi Galán has taken a significant step towards a return to the pitch.

Defender Galán was for his part forced to sit out each of Atlético’s last three outings across all competitions, most recently against Mallorca on Saturday.

This comes owing to a sprained ankle suffered against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on January 21st.

Galán has for his part spent the season to date re-establshing himself as an important member of the defensive ranks in Diego Simeone’s squad.

All associated with Atlético will, in turn, no doubt be delighted to hear of the 30-year-old closing on a return to competitive action.

As per a report from Marca, Galán was back out on the grass training with the ball on Sunday.

Should all go according to plan, the left-back should therefore be afforded the medical green light in time to play his part in the Madrid Derby next weekend.
