Atalanta battle Roma for Celtic talent O’Riley | OneFootball

Atalanta are looking towards Scotland and in talks for Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, who was also linked with Roma.

The 23-year-old was born and raised in England, but plays his international football for Denmark, already picking up two senior caps.

According to Relevo transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the negotiations are already in progress and the initial discussions have been positive.

Sky Sport Italia claim the initial €15m offer was rejected, as Celtic want more.

Serie A interest in O’Riley

O’Riley came up through the Fulham academy and went through MK Dons before the sale to Celtic in January 2022 at a cost of €1.8m.

His contract with the Scottish giants runs to May 2027 and he has already been linked with a potential move to Serie A for Roma.

The attacking midfielder scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists in 49 competitive games for Celtic last season.

His playing style and goal-scoring record would suggest he’d be a good replacement for Teun Koopmeiners, who is expected to join Juventus for €50m plus bonuses this summer.
