Paris Saint-Germain was rumored to be pursuing a striker all summer transfer window. From the likes of Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Šeško, the gossip linked the French giants to a few No. 9’s.

Despite opting to go with Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani, the Ligue 1 side had another striker in mind to strengthen their attack. However, their interest didn’t progress into an agreement.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but that decision is proving costly, as Ramos is injured, and Kolo Muani hasn’t been that difference-maker when it comes to scoring goals. So, who did PSG have in mind to improve their No. 9 role? It was Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán.

Diario AS’ Eduardo Burgos reports that Durán had offers from Bayern Munich and PSG last summer. The Colombian was close to leaving, with a move to Germany being one of his favorite options. Villa, however, blocked a move with Unai Emery rating him as a potential future superstar.

Emery proved right to keep the 20-year-old, who has scored six goals in 10 matches across all competitions for the Premier League side. How much would the player cost? Transfermarkt puts the striker’s transfer value at €35 million, and the player is under contract until 2028.
