Barcelona are poised to beef up their strong attacking unit further this summer with the signing of Nico Williams on the horizon.

The Spanish international would join the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Dani Olmo, and Ferran Torres in a star-studded attacking department.

The riches at Hansi Flick’s disposal, however, could mean reduced minutes for one of the players, most likely Ferran Torres, who was not a regular starter last season despite making valuable contributions.

Aston Villa interested in Ferran Torres

As such, according to reports relayed by Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are ‘seriously interested’ in signing Ferran Torres from Barcelona.

The Villans, under Unai Emery, have been interested in the Spanish international in the past as well and are seemingly back in the hunt for his signing aiming to capitalise on his potential lack of minutes.

Ferran enjoyed his career-best season in 2024/25 despite having been behind the first-choice attacking trio of Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine. The 25-year-old ended the campaign with 19 goals and seven assists from 45 appearances.

Given his scoring pedigree and experience in the Premier League, from the time he spent at Manchester City, Villa are understood to be interested in acquiring his services.

Ferran here to stay

However, in an interview earlier this week, Ferran made it clear that he is happy at Barcelona and wants to continue at the club.

“I only see myself in Barcelona. I will stay here and fight to earn my place in the team and become an undisputed starter,” he said.

The attacker, whose contract expires in 2027, also insisted that he was looking forward to teaming up with Nico Williams, suggesting he was unfazed by the potential increase in competition for minutes.

“Yes, of course. I played with him before in the national team, and we can form a strong attacking trio,” he added.
