Despite Neto being on the club’s radar for several years, a recent transfer enquiry was turned down by Wolves’ management.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto may face hurdles due to the player’s excellent form this season.
Neto, 23, has been on the club‘s radar since he joined Wolves in the Premier League in 2019, capturing the attention of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu.
Despite this long-standing interest, Arsenal’s recent transfer enquiry for Neto was immediately rejected by the Wolves’ management.
Neto himself is a self-confessed Arsenal fan but his rapidly growing stature at Wolves, especially under manager Gary O’Neil, could make a transfer more complicated than initially presumed.
The Portuguese player’s exceptional start to the current season has only elevated his importance at the Molineux Stadium, potentially driving up his market value and making a winter move more challenging for the Gunners.
“Arsenal still want Pedro Neto – but his blistering start to the season at Wolves could scupper a transfer deal,” reported Ryan Taylor for the Sunday People.
This was mirrored in another report by the same journalist for the Daily Star Sunday, stating, “Arsenal retain an interest in Pedro Neto but his growing importance at Wolves will complicate any potential transfer deal this winter.”
In another article, again by Taylor but this time in the Mirror, he writes that Arsenal could have to pay up to £60m to seal any deal.
Neto was integral in Wolves’ win over City on Saturday, and has one goal with four assists in seven Premier League games this season for a team that has only scored eight in total.
It’s clear that Arsenal‘s interest in Pedro Neto is ongoing but far from a foregone conclusion. The player’s form, his importance at Wolves, and his own personal affinity for Arsenal are all factors that will play into how this transfer story unfolds in the coming months.
