Arsenal are expected to complete the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga this week.

The Gunners will activate the £5m release clause in the Spaniard’s contract at Chelsea, with Kepa arriving to provide competition for David Raya.

Neto was signed on loan from Bournemouth to be Arsenal’s back-up goalkeeper last season, but was cup-tied for the Carabao Cup and barely featured.

Kepa is still the world’s most expensive goalkeeper after he joined Chelsea in 2018 for £72m from Athletic Bilbao.

He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and will now join Arsenal on a permanent deal, with the BBC reporting that the transfer is expected to be sealed by the end of the week.

Kepa will be the first signing of the summer for Arsenal, who are looking to strengthen in a number of positions.

Martin Zubimendi is set to complete his £51m move from Real Sociedad, having recently been in London to meet club officials and finalise the deal.

Arsenal’s top priority is to sign a striker this summer, with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres the two of most interest.

Recent reports suggest that Gyokeres is attempting to push through a move to the Gunners and has told Sporting he has no plans to return to the club for the start of pre-season.

Arsenal are expected to begin their preparations for the new campaign with a brief training camp in Spain, before flying out to Singapore in mid-July.

The Gunners will face AC Milan and Newcastle, and then travel to Hong Kong for a pre-season clash with Tottenham.
