Arsenal have again recorded the highest average attendance out of any club competing in the Women’s Super League (WSL) during the 2024-25 season.

Figures as per women’s football website Soccerdonna show that the Champions League winners drew in an average attendance of 28,808 in the WSL this past season.

The figure is slightly down from the 29,999 average from 2023-24. However, this still marks an impressive number with the Gunners recording four crowds above 40,000 from their 11 games.

Their highest attendance of the season came in their 5-0 victory over Tottenham in February, which drew in 56,784 spectators.

This was just shy of the all-time WSL record at 60,160 for Arsenal vs Manchester United in February 2024.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have five players who will be part of Sarina Wiegman’s Euro 2025 squad this summer. Leah Williamson, Beth Mead, Chloe Kelly, Alessia Russo and Michelle Agyemang have all been selected.

Arsenal’s attendance compared to rivals

Arsenal’s average attendance is more than three times higher than that of next-best club Chelsea.

Chelsea drew in an average attendance of 9,426 people across the 2024-25 season. However, Chelsea did go on to have an unbeaten season as they were crowned WSL champions by 12 points over Arsenal.

Rounding off the top six are Manchester United (7,390), Liverpool (6,753), and Manchester City (6,536).

Chelsea jumped ahead of Manchester United in the list as the Red Devils dropped from 10,957. Liverpool jumped from seventh in 2023-24 to fourth this season, following their move to the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helen’s.

West Ham drew the lowest average attendance for the 2024-25 season at 1,614. However, the Hammers were the only WSL side to not play at the home of their men’s team once throughout the 2024-25 season – playing at Victoria Road in Dagenham.

The big difference between Arsenal and the rest of the league can be partly attributed to the fact they played eight out of their 11 WSL games at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal played their other three matches at Meadow Park, home to Boreham Wood, which has a 4,500 capacity compared to the Emirates’ 60,704.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham all played just three of their matches at the larger stadiums used by the men’s team.

Chelsea’s Kingmeadow Stadium only has a capacity of 4,850. However, their average attendance was lifted by the numbers who attended the three games at Stamford Bridge, with as many as 34,302 spectators turning out for their 1-0 win over Arsenal in January.

Aston Villa and Leicester City played all of their games at Villa Park and the King Power Stadium respectively.
