Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Vitor Pereira has warned suitors of striker Matheus Cunha that they will put up a fight to keep the Brazil international.

The 25-year-old has dazzled for a struggling Wolves side this season and took his tally for the campaign to ten goals and four assists as he scored directly from a corner in Thursday's 2-0 win over Manchester United.

The Red Devils have been touted as suitors for Cunha, while Arsenal are the latest side to be linked with the Wolves forward as they seek to replace the injured Bukayo Saka.

Pereira, however, has made it clear to those in charge at Molineux that they must do what they can to keep hold of Cunha.

"In my opinion he’s a player who can reach high standards in this league," Pereira told Amazon Prime.

Asked whether Cunha could take the step up with another club, the Wolves boss responded: "I hope not, I hope not because we need him. Of course [it is important to keep Cunha]. We need his quality."

Cunha has previously hinted at a long future with Wolves, describing the club as his "home" in an interview earlier this month.

"I feel the admiration of the fans, and this is something that I never believed I would get when I first came here, to a small city in England, which is completely different from my hometown – but now I feel like I'm at home," he told club media.

"The fans are unbelievable with me, with my family, and I have only great things to say about my teammates. But to go to the stadium and to perform for them is like I feel at home.

"I feel like I want to do everything I can to change the situation, because when you play with a little bit more passion, not as if it was just my work, then I think you put in a little bit more things that can change it."
