Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard have both travelled to Liverpool with the Arsenal squad ahead of a crunch Premier League clash at Anfield.
Mikel Arteta had been left sweating on a handful of injuries ahead of the match, but has been boosted by the return of his captain.
Odegaard was withdrawn from last weekend’s five-goal rout of Leeds after falling awkwardly and injuring his right shoulder.
A scan showed no significant damage, though, and he is expected to return to the squad at Anfield today.
Trossard was considered a doubt for the match as he struggles to shake off a groin injury picked up in pre-season. He appeared off the bench against Leeds, though, and is also on Merseyside today.
Arteta is already facing a raft of first-team absentees. Bukayo Saka is due to spend weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, while Kai Havertz has undergone surgery on a knee injury.
Of Saka’s injury, Arteta said: “Obviously he is very unfortunate to pick it up, it is on the other side [to his old injury]. It is an action that requires full power from him, then he clashes with the opponent, he needs to change pace again and he felt something.
“So, he will be out for a couple of weeks. Let’s see how he evolves in the next few days and weeks, repeat the scan and see where he is at.”
On Havertz, he added: “This is our profession, part of football, we need to live with that. Obviously, we lose another big player for many, many weeks - but it was the right thing to do on the doctor’s advice. I think he was very convinced at the end it was the quickest and best way to resolve that issue.
“Hopefully, the most important thing is when he gets back he is in good condition and middle and long term as well, we protect the player.”
