Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres was on the scoresheet once again on Monday night as the striker scored in Sweden’s 3-0 win over Estonia in the UEFA Nations League.

The 26-year-old has made a sensational start to the 2024/25 campaign having produced 12 goals and three assists across 11 games for Sporting, while also scoring four goals and assisting a further three within four games for Sweden.

This follows on from a brilliant campaign last season, one which attracted the interest of many big clubs during the summer.

Arsenal were one of these as Mikel Arteta looked for an opportunity to add a number nine to his squad, however, the Gunners would fail to bring in a new frontman and luckily for them, Kai Havertz has stepped up throughout the opening phase of the campaign.

Once the transfer market closed, The Express reported that Arsenal continued to monitor Gyokeres ahead of the 2025 windows.

The Sweden international is contracted to Sporting until 2028 but has a £85m release clause within his deal. However, the Portuguese club are said to be willing to listen to offers in the region of £43m for their star man.

Will Arsenal regret not signing Viktor Gyokeres this summer?

So far, Arsenal will not regret missing out on Gyokeres this summer despite the striker producing 22 goal contributions as Havertz has stepped up for Arteta during the early phase of the campaign.

The North London club would have had their reasons for not signing the 26-year-old during the summer and their interest in the player remains ahead of the 2025 transfer windows.

The Gunners could regret the decision further down the line when things start to get tough for them in the title race and they need a goalscorer to get them out of jail during a bad performance but for now, the Premier League outfit will be happy to continue to monitor Gyokeres.
