Saka has set his sights on the greatest individual honour in football
Bukayo Saka dreams of winning the Ballon d’Or as he prepares for his biggest night as an Arsenal player.
The forward has enjoyed a meteoric rise since breaking into the Arsenal first team in 2018 and is now considered among the best wingers in the world.
Saka’s return from injury after a lengthy three-month layoff has come at the perfect time, with the forward expected to make his first start since December in Tuesday’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Saka highlighted the Ballon d’Or as a career goal but acknowledged that individual accolades are unattainable without a strong team behind him.
He said: “Yeah, it's a dream. I think it's a dream for a lot of players. I am just working hard to do the best for my team.”
Playing his down own status in the team, the two-time club player of the season added: “I need my teammates as much as they need me,”
Saka’s explosive rise to fame and consistent standout performances have earned him comparisons to Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, Madrid’s two biggest attacking threats.
I don't want to say they are a level above me because that's not how I think

While Saka dreams of winning the Ballon d’Or, both Mbappe and Vinicius have chequered pasts with the title, which honours the best individual player in the world as voted by journalists.
Real Madrid infamously boycotted the award ceremony last year after leaked results showed Vinicius would be snubbed in favour of Manchester City’s Rodri. Mbappe then publicly denounced the Spaniard’s win in an interview with Le Parisien.
Saka is confident he can match their levels on-pitch, though.
He continued: “I don't want to say they are a level above me because that's not how I think.”
Despite missing three months through injury, Saka still tops Arsenal’s scoring charts in the Champions League, level with Kai Havertz on four goals apiece. He wasted no time getting back to scoring form in the Premier League, finding a winner over Fulham just minutes after his reintroduction to the Emirates.
