There are times when a club need to open the door to new ideas without losing sight of the essence of its project. Arsenal, after a season where they came close to glory, are still looking for that final push to establish themselves at the top. Their attack has had its ups and downs: the left wing with Gabriel Martinelli did not show the consistent spark that many expected, and Mikel Arteta knows it.

That is why rumours are circulating about names capable of bringing immediate quality, healthy competitiveness and freshness. The idea of fishing for proven talent in the Premier League is gaining momentum, and that is where Anthony Gordon comes in.

Arsenal Are Having Discussions To Sign Anthony Gordon

According to Fabrizio Romano for Give Me Sport, Arsenal have already held internal talks to explore the arrival of Gordon, currently a key player at Newcastle United. His name has also been circulating in Liverpool’s offices, but the Gunners seem willing to test the waters first.

Gordon is coming off a brilliant season with 16 goal contributions, making it clear that he possesses the attacking qualities, sacrifice and a touch of cheekiness that fit in with what Arteta is looking for. The big question is whether Arsenal will turn those preliminary talks into a concrete offer capable of opening cracks in Newcastle’s wall.

Opinion:

In our opinion, the idea of signing Anthony Gordon makes a lot of sense for Arsenal, as long as it is a well-measured operation. Firstly, the left wing needs more spark and, above all, someone who will force Martinelli to give his best every week. Gordon, with his direct style and ability to overlap, would generate that competitive pressure. In addition, he has something that Arteta values: he knows the Premier League well, does not need to adapt and has already performed well at both Everton and Newcastle. This reduces the risk.

However, the big obstacle lies at St James’ Park. Newcastle are not an easy seller, especially when it comes to a player who is vital to their attack. They have secured Champions League football, and letting Gordon go would weaken their project. That’s where the second part of the equation comes in: Arsenal must demonstrate with numbers and sporting arguments that their proposal is irresistible. Can they do it? I think so.

There is no doubt that the London club have the financial muscle to make an offer that Newcastle will at least consider. And for Gordon, a move to a team with real aspirations to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League does not go unnoticed. If Arsenal want to take that step forward on the wings, Gordon represents an interesting bet. It is not cheap or easy, but sometimes knocking on the right door requires daring to knock hard.
