Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring 20-year-old striker Samu Omorodion, who spent last season on loan at Deportivo Alavés from Atlético Madrid.

The Spanish youngster has been turning heads with his impressive performances in La Liga.

Born in Melilla, Omorodion’s journey to professional football began in Seville, where he honed his skills before joining Granada’s youth setup in 2021. He quickly rose through the ranks, making his senior debut for Granada’s reserve team in 2022 and ultimately his La Liga debut in August 2023, scoring a memorable goal against his current parent club, Atlético Madrid in a 3-1 defeat.

A week later, Atlético secured his signature on a five-year contract.

Omorodion was then immediately loaned out to Alavés to gain further experience and playing time.

His impressive displays have not only piqued the interest of Arsenal but also several other European clubs, including Roma, Napoli, and Tottenham Hotspur.

Napoli’s interest is reportedly linked to the uncertain future of their star striker, Victor Osimhen (also linked with Arsenal), while Roma are looking to replace the potentially departing Romelu Lukaku (who could replace Osimhen, should he leave).

Atlético Madrid, however, are keen to keep hold of their young talent. Manager Diego Simeone is said to be evaluating Omorodion’s potential during pre-season training, with a view to integrating him into the first-team squad next season.

Despite Atlético’s desire to retain Omorodion, an offer exceeding €40 million could tempt the club to sell. This has opened the door for Arsenal and other suitors to swoop in for the promising striker.

Whether the Gunners will formalise their interest with a concrete offer remains to be seen, but the pursuit of Omorodion is certainly a storyline to watch in the coming weeks.
