Coming on the heels of major deals – including Kai Havertz and Declan Rice – the Gunners’ interest in Frimpong underlines their ambition to get back to the top of English football.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are stepping up their summer transfer activity, eyeing Leverkusen’s dynamic right-back Jeremie Frimpong according to BILD.
Known for his blistering pace and crossing precision on the right wing, Frimpong would be a strong addition to Arsenal’s squad.
The North London side have shown they’re not afraid to splash the cash, bringing in big names like Kai Havertz and Declan Rice for a combined fee of £170m.
The pursuit of the Premier League title in 2024 is clearly on Arsenal’s agenda, and they’re assembling a squad to match those aspirations.
As Arsenal hunt for further reinforcements, the planned exit of Granit Xhaka to Leverkusen could be key.
Reports indicate the Gunners have agreed on a £21.5m fee for Xhaka, which could potentially facilitate Frimpong’s move to Arsenal.
Despite the reliable presence of Ben White at right-back, Arteta is keen to enhance his squad’s depth.
In addition to Frimpong, Joao Cancelo and Benny Henrichs are also on the radar.
Leverkusen, on the other hand, seem to be planning for life after Frimpong.
The German side recently signed Brazilian international Arthur, signalling they’re ready to let Frimpong go.
They reportedly want €40m for the 22yo who scored eight goals, with seven assists, in 34 league games.
