Liverpool boss Arne Slot has remained coy on whether Trent Alexander-Arnold will be fit for tomorrow's Merseyside derby.

The Premier League leaders travel to Goodison Park for the final time for their rearranged clash with Everton on Wednesday.

But they may have to do so without Alexander-Arnold who has missed the Reds last two cup games with an injury.

Slot though, has refused to fully reveal the defender's fitness and also commented on Joe Gomez's recent bad luck.

"Trent has done parts of training sessions with us yesterday. Let's see how he is today," the coach said.

"Joe, it's the same leg he had the injury last time. We are still assessing that."

Slot was then asked about Liverpool's surprise defeat to Plymouth in the FA Cup on Sunday.

"To lose against Plymouth is unacceptable. We are disappointed with that result. Now we have to show a different side of us tomorrow. It was not only the result, the performance was far below Liverpool standards as well."

The Dutch tactician also commented on his side going to Goodison for the final time tomorrow.

"It's an extra reason why the atmosphere will be even better. I haven't been to one but people tell me it is always a fantastic atmosphere. It's probably going to be a fantastic atmosphere and that is never easy to play against.

"Every single time they cross the halfway line or get a corner kick, the fans will cheer for that. As an away team you have to be ready for that. But it's not the first time for these players they are playing in atmospheres like this.

"I hope they can focus on what they do. I noticed in the Plymouth game, the intensity of the tackles was because of the emotions in the stadium. We have to be up for that."

A win tomorrow could see Liverpool go nine points clear at the top of the table.
