Yesterday, Palacios officially became an Inter player.

The Argentine is the player the Nerazzurri decided to bring in as their final big defensive reinforcement of the summer transfer window.

Inter signed Palacios to be the backup to Alessandro Bastoni on the left of the back three.

Despite Palacios’s relatively modest profile going into this summer, the Nerazzurri see the 21-year-old as having the right profile for their squad.

Inter expect the Argentina Under-20 international to grow over the coming seasons. There could be parallels to Yann Bisseck’s growth since his move last summer.

Tomas Palacios: “Proud To Get The Inter Call, Living A Dream”

Defender Palacios said that “I’m happy to be here,” after he complete his move.

“When I received the call from his club, I felt very happy and proud,” the 21-year-old continued.

“I’m living a dream,” Palacios said. “Now all there is for me to do is train and give my best.”

The Argentine described himself as a “gritty defender.”

“I like playing with the ball at my feet,” he went on.

Palacios noted that “As a child, I started out playing as a striker.”

“But then as I grew up, and partly due to my height and technique, they moved me into defense,” he went on.

Palacios said that “I’m proud to play in the position I do. I hope that I can give my best.”

Palacios also praised his countryman and Inter’s captain. “I look up to Lautaro a lot,” he said. “I’m proud to have him as my teammate.”

As far as his goals, the 21-year-old said “On a personal level, accumulate as many minutes as possible and make the most of playing at this great club.”

“And on a team level, I want to help take Inter as high as possible,” Palacios said.
