After the away victory over champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen, SV Werder will now want to show that they can win at home. There have been no home wins at all in the past two weeks, not only in Bremen but in the Bundesliga as a whole. The Green-Whites are looking to buck this trend against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday, 15th March (15:30 CET). “We’re trying to change that,” said Ole Werner at the press conference. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the match.
Team news: Niklas Stark is still a doubt. Mitchell Weiser will miss the match against the league’s ninth-placed side due to suspension. “Mitch is an extremely important player for us, which is why it's frustrating that he will not be able to play due to suspension. That just means that others will need to step up and to do a good job,” said Werder’s head coach. Marvin Ducksch and Marco Friedl are both available again.
Ole Werner on the opponent: “Gladbach will demand similar things from us as Leverkusen did. They are able to pose a threat on goal in a number of different ways. Regardless of whether it's through long balls to Tim Kleindienst, or by working their way up the pitch, they have been able to strengthen themselves in these specific areas and have stood out this season as a result.”

Previous meetings: The head-to-head record from the previous 109 Bundesliga meetings is almost completely even. SVW have ran out victorious on 39 occasions, while the visitors have won just three more with 42. The Foals recorded a 4-1 victory at BORUSSIA-PARK in the reverse fixture. However, they have not won at the Weserstadion for four years.
A good record against the Foals: Marvin Ducksch and Romano Schmid both boast an impressive record against Borussia. Ducksch has picked up at least one goal involvement in all five of his appearances against Gladbach in a Werder shirt. Overall, he has four goals and three assists against BMG. Schmid meanwhile has provided five assists against the Foals. “It’s time to make that six on Saturday,” said the Austrian ahead of the game.
