Angel Gomes set to sign for Marseille

Angel Gomes is on the verge of signing for Marseille, after the French club confirmed they've reached an “agreement in principle” to bring in the England international.

The 24-year-old, who came through Manchester United’s academy, is set to leave Lille as a free agent when his current deal runs out at the end of the month.

Despite interest from West Ham and Tottenham, Gomes has opted for a move to Marseille, where he’s expected to link up with former United teammate Mason Greenwood.

Burnley’s CJ Egan-Riley could also be heading to the Stade Vélodrome, after the defender turned down a new contract offer from the Clarets.

Gomes made the switch to Lille five years ago after finding first-team chances limited at Old Trafford. Since then, his form has seen him earn four caps for England.
