After leaving Celtic for North London in 2023, the Spurs boss brought Chris Davies on board as his senior assistant, but after less than a year together, Davies departed to take charge at Birmingham City, agreeing to a four-year contract with the League One club.
Speaking prior to Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League quarter-final, Ange Postecoglou heaped praise on his former colleague: “Yeah, I am delighted for him,” he said.
“I really enjoyed working with Chris. He was only with me for a short time last year, but I really enjoyed working with him. He was a big part of what we built last year. It was ground zero in terms of building a whole football programme in a different direction and he was a big part of that.

“Your first job is pretty important when you’re trying to embark on a career as a senior manager, and he’s done brilliantly well, which is not surprising. I am sure there is more to come from him.”
The former Celtic manager added: “I think there were still other people within, so it wasn’t that disruptive. It would have been more difficult if Chris had been with me for 10 years and then he moves on, but the reason I haven’t had a group of people is that it’s an easy one for us to deal with, because there is a consistency in message with all the staff I have.”
“Like I said, he was great with us last year, and I was more than pleased for him to take his opportunity, and he’s done well with it.”

Previously part of Rodgers’ coaching staff at Celtic and Leicester City, Davies departed the Foxes with Rodgers in April 2023, as the team faced the looming threat of relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.
