Ange Postecoglou has addressed returning to the Ibrox Stadium for Rangers vs Tottenham. The former Celtic boss expects an "intense" atmosphere.
Tomorrow, Tottenham Hotspur travel to Glasgow to face Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium. It is fair to say that's not the standout headline but instead, it's Ange Postecoglou returning to the stadium - Of course, he once managed Rangers' Glasgow rivals, Celtic.
Ange Postecoglou is viewed by many in England as a likeable manager. He says things how they are and he remains respectful to the opposition while doing so. However, given the heated dislike between Rangers and Celtic, fans at Ibrox Stadium couldn't disagree with the "likeable" claim more.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Ange Postecoglou reflected on the "great time" he had up in Scotland, while managing Celtic. Drawing upon his experience, Ange expects the atmosphere at Ibrox to be as intense as it always was, especially on European nights.
In his own words, Ange Postecoglou said: "I'm looking forward to it. I had a great time up there in the two years I was there [at Celtic]. Fair to say, Ibrox can be fairly intense and I'm sure we'll feel that."
"But it's a great stadium to play football in. The atmosphere, European nights. Even when I was there, they did awfully well in Europe - the first year I was there they got to the Europa League final."
Ange further commented on how he's excited to feel the cold again. As someone who used to live in Australia, it would have been quite a shock to the system for Ange to feel the infamous Glaswegian cold for the first time but, like many before him, it's a feeling he's grown to miss.
Heading into this match, it's hard to ignore the pressure on Ange. As likeable as he might be, there's no denying that he must start picking up results for Tottenham Hotspur.
He is not believed to be under any formal pressure as the board trusts him to get results. However, there will be informal pressure, particularly from the travelling Tottenham fans. They don't want to sit in the cold for another disappointing performance, after all.
Either way, it's great to have European football back. Despite their poor form and injury luck, Spurs will be eager to put on a display at Ibrox.
