Manchester United and Jadon Sancho ended their turbulent three year relationship this summer with the player making a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Sancho has joined a packed squad at Stamford Bridge with the Blues continuing their incredible spending under American owner Todd Boehly.

United legend Andy Cole has spoken on Sancho’s move, warning the 24-year-old about his potential playing time in London.

As reported by The Sun, Cole believes the amount of players Chelsea have on their books might diminish the forward’s minutes on the pitch this season.

“Unless football becomes 24-a-side, he’s (Sancho) going to struggle like everybody else is at Chelsea because nobody knows what’s going on there.

“They’ve got loads of big names but they can only choose 11 players to start, so it will be interesting to see how he does at Chelsea,” he said.

Cole did admit that if Enzo Maresca can find the formula to get the best out of Sancho, it could be a good move for club and player but questioned where the former Dortmund man gets into the Chelsea team.

“There’s so much talent and so much unlocked potential there, so if Chelsea can unlock it and get him to the peak of his powers, then it would ultimately be a very, very good deal for them.

“However, you can flip it on its head and ask where he’s going to play?” said Cole.

United forked out over £70 million for Sancho in 2021 and having now agreed a deal to eventually sell him for just over £20 million, Cole says the move could work out as “a steal” for Chelsea but he would need to find his feet quickly in new surroundings.

Despite not hitting the heights at Old Trafford, Sancho’s departure has left United looking light in attacking areas and Erik ten Hag will hope his forward players can find form to fire them out of another poor start to the season.

United return to action this coming weekend with a trip to Southampton after picking up just three points from their first three games of the new campaign.
