Former England striker Andy Carroll has returned to English football, joining National League South side Dagenham & Redbridge on a three-year deal.
The 35-year-old, who once led the line for Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham in the Premier League, had been without a club since leaving French side Bordeaux earlier this summer.
After leaving Reading in 2023, Carroll spent time in France with Amiens before making a surprise switch to Bordeaux in the country’s fourth tier.
Now, the nine-cap England international is back home and not only signing on as a player, but also taking a minority ownership stake in the east London club.
The move coincides with a major change at Dagenham, who announced a full takeover by a consortium featuring well-known Qatari investors, acquiring 100 per cent of the club.
