Carlo Ancelotti was at risk of losing his job as head coach of Real Madrid after his side’s 3-1 loss to Milan in the Champions League before the international break, but was able to turn things around for the time being with a 4-0 win over Osasuna in LaLiga.
According to reports from Relevo, Ancelotti would have been sacked had Madrid fallen to a defeat against Osasuna.
Had they lost, it would have been three successive defeats after the surprise loss to the Rossoneri and the 4-0 hammering by Barcelona in El Classico just before.

Relevo claim that internal discussions surrounding Ancelotti’s future were held after the Barcelona loss, and that the situation only worsened after the disappointment against Milan.
Saturday’s report suggests that Carlito was given an ultimatum by his employers in Madrid, and it has also been reported that director of football Santiago Solari was poised to take over had the Italian tactician been dismissed.
Solari was appointed as Madrid’s director of football in 2022, and has previously coached Los Blancos as head coach between 2018-29, before moving on to Club America in Mexico.
