Manchester United have 12 days to prepare for the Europa League final, where they’ll lock horns with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in an all-English contest in Bilbao.
To end the season basking in European glory after a truly turbulent nine months in every other competition will have the Old Trafford faithful on cloud nine heading into the summer – and Ruben Amorim, who has the chance to claim silverware just six months after his arrival at the club.
United have been criticised for the fact that, in prioritising the UEL, they appear to have completely switched off in the Premier League. The side are now winless in the last six matches, and enter matchweek 36 in 15th place.
Yet, supporters are braced to expect more of the same before the league campaign draws to a close, as Amorim will now continue resting his key lieutenants to ensure there is minimal chance of injuries before the final.
That means the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Noussair Mazraoui – amongst others – are likely to play a reduced role in the remaining fixtures against West Ham, Chelsea and Aston Villa. One Red, in particular, will have to be kept covered in bubble wrap if it means he’s fit and firing come May 21.

Indeed, Amad’s place in the starting XI against Spurs is a non-negotiable. The Ivorian livewire has only just made his return from a three-month spell on the sidelines, and his absence was sorely felt in attack throughout that period.
In the 27-minute cameo he made off the bench, Amad notched one assist and two successful dribbles. He also made one key pass and won both of his ground duels attempted, as well as one aerial duel.
He’s the type of forward who has fans on their feet from the moment he receives the ball. Post-match, journalist Samuel Luckhurst echoed the sentiment on X/Twitter, writing: “Amad has been scintillating since he came on. Has to start the final.”
