The Champions League anthem is to sound one last time at the Red Bull Arena this season as we host Atletico Madrid on Wednesday 29 January at 21:00 CET. Just a week after our trip to face Real, we are therefore set for another stern test against a star-studded side from the Spanish capital.
You only have to glance at the La Liga table to see we face a similarly mammoth task. Atletico are second behind Real, currently, with a four-point gap. In the UEFA Champions League table, Diego Simeone's boys are even ahead of their rivals. Los Rojiblancos, who were in our Champions League group in 2020, are currently in fifth place and want to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League's last 16.

We are only playing for pride, unfortunately, with our exit guaranteed - but we still are determined to use the chance to show what we can do at home to one of the top teams in Europe. Our boys were able to play really well for phases against Real Madrid, and we can build on that as we look to the Austrian season restarting after the winter break at the weekend.
After the record away following of 4,500 Salzburg fans in the Santiago Bernabeu last week, our Red Bulls are also looking forward to the chance to spend another Champions League evening with our fans. Close to 24,000 tickets are sold, with information on getting to the match contained in the latest matchday info. If you still want to book your seat, you can do that in our Online Ticket Shop.
Not able to make it to the stadium? You can follow our UEFA Champions League clash against Atletico on our live text updates. The clash can also be seen exclusively on Sky Sport Austria.

The final Champions League match of the season will be about taking the good phases from the Real Madrid match and showing that for longer - and performing determinedly as a team. We will definitely be a bit further along physically, which should help us to cope with opponents like that for longer. If we do that, it's possible we can get a good result, but we know we are facing a club in Atletico that wants to win the competition - and can do that.

Our expectations are similar to last week's match. Atletico have world-class players, just like Real Madrid, and are right at the top of one of the strongest leagues in the world. If we want to cope with them, we can only do that as a team and a unit on the pitch. That is our aim - to face them together, do everything to create an upset and finish the Champions League in style.
