Alphonso Davies hasn't ruled out leaving Bayern Munich this summer amid ongoing transfer links with Real Madrid, despite talks over a new contract taking place.

Davies scored a stunning goal that looked like it would put Bayern into the Champions League final at Madrid's expense at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, until a late double from unlikely hero Joselu turned the tie on its head in the final minutes.

There was an element of irony about the player heavily linked with Madrid in recent months potentially killing their quest for European glory. As it happened, that wasn't the case, but Davies could yet end up in Spain next season as the coming months unfold.

Key to the uncertainty over his Bayern future has been his contract approaching its final year and, as yet, the inability to agree a new deal to secure his long-term future. The German giants risk losing a prize asset as a free agent if he doesn't sign fresh terms and they don't sell this summer.

"Will I play here at the Bernabeu? Right now, my agent is talking to Bayern. Whatever happens, I'm very grateful to Bayern," the Canadian told reporters after Wednesday’s tie, giving little away but also failing to knock the idea of a potential departure on the head.

Bayern have had concerns over a Madrid approach for Davies and contract talks earlier in the season had stalled due to the player holding out for a salary that befits his status as one of the best left-backs in world football – his current deal was signed way back in April 2020 before that breakout.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have also been reluctant to commit too much attention to their interest in Davies due to a belief that his heart is set on Madrid if he moves on.

Ferland Mendy, the player Davies would replace in the Spanish capital, has played every minute of Madrid's Champions League knockout journey but hasn't featured in La Liga since mid-April. The 28-year-old Frenchman also has a history of muscle injuries.
