Almere City have announced the signing of 27-year-old defender Teun Bijleveld. The left-back has signed a contract until 2028 with the recently relegated Almere and joins on a free transfer. Bijleveld had been playing in the Italian third tier with Triestine. The former Dutch youth international only moved to Italy last summer from Roda JC but has come back to the second tier of Dutch football after just one season abroad.
Bijleveld came through the system at AZ and also spent time with Ajax, although he never made a first team appearance for either team. He did play 55 games for Jong Ajax, scoring four goals and providing 14 assists. This form earnt him a move to Heracles, where he played 39 games. He then moved to FC Emmen for their 2021/2022 promotion season, although he was then unable to play in their 2022/2023 Eredivisie campaign. For two seasons, Bijleveld was with Roda JC, playing 55 games in the Dutch second tier. He scored twice and grabbed three assists.
