Max Allegri warns Milan that they must focus on finding a ‘mental balance’ this season after a 9-0 friendly win over Perth Glory. ‘When the season begins, everything will change.’

The Rossoneri concluded their pre-season tour with a 9-0 demolition job on Perth Glory, thanks to goals from Filippo Terracciano, Christian Comotto, Samuel Chukwueze, Samuele Ricci, Yunus Musah, and two each from Noah Okafor and Rafael Leao.

Christian Pulisic was not involved due to an ankle knock.

Allegri sees promise from Milan

“We had 25 days of good training work and some good performances in these friendly matches,” Allegri told Milan TV.

“We are happy with what we did. When we resume in Italy on August 5, we must think that this is where the season begins, and everything will change there. The lads are working with enthusiasm, which is the most important thing, and they took this game seriously, giving the people of Australia a great night of sport.”

Milan lost 1-0 to Arsenal, but defeated Liverpool 3-2 and crushed Perth Glory 9-0 in this pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.

“We’ve got to take one step at a time, not get too fired up when things go well, because there will be difficult moments, and in those times we must not get dragged into depression. It is more about mental balance than tactical, knowing that a season is like a cruise over 38 matches and you need to keep the same pace throughout.”

This is a return to Milan for Allegri, who will have a few more test matches against Leeds United and Chelsea.

His first competitive game back on the Rossoneri bench is going to be the Coppa Italia tie against Bari on August 17.

“Now we’ve got to put this first month to one side and return to Italy. We still have two more friendlies, in Dublin and London, then we’ll have an important match in the Coppa Italia,” concluded the coach.
