Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri tells journalists to ‘be patient’ regarding his future at the Allianz Stadium and insists Salernitana deserve ‘respect.’

The Italian tactician spoke at a press conference on Saturday on the eve of a key Serie A match against Salernitana.

The Granata have already been relegated while a win would allow the Bianconeri to mathematically qualify for the Champions League.

Next week, Juventus will meet Atalanta in the Coppa Italia Final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Allegri wants ‘respect’ for Salernitana

“We are in good shape; the important thing is to try to get the first target and prepare well for the Final in Rome against Atalanta,” Allegri told reporters, as quoted by Ilbianconero.com.

“The most important match is always the one coming up. We can’t snub Salernitana; it would be disrespectful. Games must be won on the pitch; if you don’t win, you don’t get points,” continued the Old Lady’s boss.

“Tomorrow’s match is the most important; we have to reach the Champions League, and it won’t be easy. We’ll need attention and respect for Salernitana.

“They have fast players in attack, and they played well against Atalanta in the last away game. They have players who want to emerge. They’ve been unlucky this season, but they’ll want to end a negative campaign with a win in Turin, so we must be concrete.”

Will he rotate to have fresh players against Atalanta next week?

“I’ll pick the best line-up tomorrow. Once we reach the Champions League, we’ll think about Atalanta,” insisted Allegri.

“The best players will play. De Sciglio, Alex Sandro and Danilo are out. Two of them could recover for Atalanta. Chiesa and Yildiz are not fully fit. I’ll assess their condition and then decide on the line-up.

“Djalò is improving, he could even play. Without Danilo and Alex Sandro, I have four defenders and three will play.”

Despite Chiesa’s physical problems, the Italian impressed against Roma last week and Allegri explained the reason behind his positive performance.

“Chiesa is improving because he’s in better shape. He had struggled before. Dusan [Vlahovic] has scored many goals and the numbers are on his side. If he plays tomorrow, he can be decisive,” he said.

Juventus were involved in the title race until February, do they have any regret about how this season has gone?

“Everyone makes mistakes, starting with me,” said Allegri.

“We think about tomorrow’s game and then the Rome Final with Atalanta. At the end of the season, I’ll make evaluations with the staff, as usual. It was a strange season for Juventus because we didn’t play in the Champions League.

“I’ve always preferred to play once every three days because tiredness can be managed. At the beginning of the season, we had two targets: to qualify for the Champions League and reach the Coppa Italia Final.”

Allegri calls for patience over Juventus’ future

Allegri was asked for an update on his future, but he didn’t provide it.

“You’ve got to be patient for a little more,” he said.

“Patience is the virtue of the strong. We are at the end of the season. Now we’ll focus on tomorrow’s game and then on Atalanta.”

Juventus ultras have urged the club to keep Allegri, possibly offering him a new deal beyond 2025.

“I am glad, but the most important thing is that they support the lads tomorrow. It will be an important game for Juventus,” argued Allegri.
