Alexis Mac Allister has responded to rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid, claiming he is "very happy" at Liverpool.

The midfielder made the move to Anfield in the summer of 2023 after enjoying a successful spell at Brighton & Hove Albion. He quickly became an important figure in Jurgen Klopp's final year with the Reds, bagging seven goals and as many assists across all competitions.

Usually a central midfielder, Mac Allister proved versatile in a Liverpool shirt, often playing as a number six to cover the hole left by Jordan Henderson and Fabinho's departures.

Reports in Argentina have named Mac Allister as a potential target for Madrid, with the links only growing following news that Toni Kroos will retire after Euro 2024 this summer.

But, it seems that Mac Allister is just getting started at Liverpool, choosing to shut down any links with the La Liga side.

Speaking to ESPN Argentina after linking up with his national team, Mac Allister said: "I'm not talking about assumptions, I'm very happy in Liverpool."

While a move to recent La Liga winners Madrid may seem attractive, closer to home there is much to look forward to, as Liverpool welcome new manager Arne Slot.

It is believed that Slot will value Mac Allister as a vital member of the team, especially with uncertainty surrounding the futures of regular starters Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Reports suggest that Liverpool will be in the market for a new midfielder this summer to work alongside Mac Allister, with Atalanta's Teun Koopmeiners and Benfica's Orkun Kokcu among those linked with switches to Anfield.
