Alexander Isak: Second Liverpool bid imminent 'as Newcastle make fresh transfer stance' | OneFootball

The striker remains in exile, and a resolution could finally be reached in the final week of the transfer window

Newcastle are expecting a second Liverpool bid for Alexander Isak before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

The two teams face off tonight in what will be a fiery atmosphere at St James' Park, but Isak remains exiled by his current club as he remains desperate to join the Premier League giants.

Liverpool have not lodged a bid for Isak since seeing an opening offer worth £110million rejected on August 1. More than three weeks later, another is considered imminent.

The i Paper report that Liverpool are set to make a second bid for Isak once the fireworks of tonight's Premier League clash are out the way.

Other reports claim that bid could come as early as Tuesday, August 26.

The i Paper adds that Newcastle’s Saudi Arabian owners remain steadfast in their position: Isak will not be sold unless his valuation is met. That figure has long been considered £150m, but the report claims that figure could yet be higher with the striker still having three years left to run on his contract.

Newcastle also still need a replacement. They have endured a miserable summer to date, having been rejected by Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Bryan Mbeumo, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko.

They have also seen two bids for Yoane Wissa rejected, the most recent totalling £40m. Much like Isak, Wissa remains adamant that he has an informal agreement with Brentford that would allow him to leave this summer and is keen to join Newcastle.

The Bees demanded £50million to sell Wissa, Newcastle bid £35m and then £40m. Both bids were rejected and now Brentford have upped their asking price.

As the transfer window enters its final week, there is much still to be settled.
