Girona FC signs left-back Àlex Moreno, from Aston Villa. The Catalan footballer has signed a two-season contract, until June 2027.
Born in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Moreno trained in the youth categories of Vilafranca before moving to FC Barcelona's academy. In the 2012-13 season, he joined UE Llagostera and debuted in Segunda B. In 2014, he signed with RCD Mallorca, where he played his first matches in Segunda A. Later, he played for Rayo Vallecano, where he established himself as one of the most reliable full-backs in LaLiga, and for Real Betis, where he played over 120 official matches and debuted in European competitions.
In January 2023, Moreno made the leap to the Premier League with Aston Villa, where he completed two seasons under Unai Emery, also participating in European competitions. This past year, he was on loan at Nottingham Forest.
The new left-back for Girona stands out for his speed, refined technique, and ability to create goal-scoring opportunities. On the field, Moreno is recognized for his dribbling skills, dominance in one-on-one situations, and constant involvement in the attack. His runs down the left flank and assists make him a high-risk full-back for opponents. Defensively, the player provides solidity, with notable stats in tackles and interceptions. His combination of pace, technique, and tactical intelligence makes him a special player capable of turning the game around.
Now, at 32 years old, he returns to LaLiga to bring experience and quality to Girona FC's project.
